Cissie Morgan (nee Andrew’s) - Cherry Hinton people profiles

Cissie Morgan (née Andrews)

 1894 - 1954

Cissie Morgan lived at 191 High Street, Cherry Hinton, and became a well-known and much-loved member of the community following her marriage to Charles Edward Morgan on 2 August 1915.

A devoted member of village life, Cissie played an active role in several local organisations. She was involved with the Cherry Hinton Women’s Institute and the Cherry Hinton branch of the British Legion, which she represented at county level. Her leadership was recognised in her appointments as Chairman and later President of the village Women’s Section of the British Legion.

Cissie was also a committed member of the Cherry Hinton Baptist Church on Fishers Lane, where she sang in the choir and taught in the Sunday School.

Always ready to lend a hand, she gave her time generously to charitable appeals and community collections.

Through the Women’s Voluntary Service (W.V.S.), she founded and led the Cherry Hinton Over 60s Club, where her warmth, energy, and compassion earned her the respect and affection of all who knew her - especially the older residents she so devotedly served.

We have named the one-to-one meeting room in the newly built Cherry Hinton Hub after Cissie Morgan. You will be able to see a framed profile about her by the door to this room.
