Women Footballers, 1921. This Cambridge family postcard photograph shows three women footballers posing in striped shirts, shorts and long socks, one holding a football. A pencilled note on the reverse simply reads "Dot" and the date "May 1921"…..

Gray-Nicolls plastic shopping bag c.1980, from Grays of Cambridge. Grays was founded in 1855, the Gray-Nicolls brand itself was formed in 1940 by the merger of H. J. Gray and Sons. This bag comes from the Grays sport shop that was situated at 36 Sidney Street Cambridge.

Original Cambridge Co-operative Shopping Large Paper Bag c.1960’s. This bag was from the Co-op’s grand headquarters Cambridge department store on Burleigh Street.

Here is a beautifully preserved original large paper bag from Lauries of Cambridge c.1970’s. Lauries was a well loved department store in Cambridge that had its shop on Fitzroy Street.

Jumble Sales over the years in Cambridge

My aunt Joan has asked me to share this painting that she did years ago of a jumble in Cambridge.

Joan writes:

“I painted this picture years ago in memory of the old St John’s Church Hall jumble sales in Blinco Grove. Kids would buy wonderful books and toys, mum would get sewing things and jewellery, then you could bid in the auction for garden items, a cycle or even vintage furniture. We would then trundle home to Glebe Road with our treasures.”

A lovely old Queens' College Cambridge Luncheon Menu for Monday 5th June 1961 which was held in honour of “Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother The Patroness of The College”. There is a real black and white photograph placed on the front of the menu.
