The Esperanto International Congress Cambridge 1907 - old postcard from Cambridge to Isle of Wight

Old Postcard from Cambridge to Isle of Wight c.1907 Esperanto Congress, Nia Lando Music

This interesting old postcard titled “Esperanto” appears to have been produced for The Third International Congress which was held in Cambridge, on the 10th to 17th of August 1907. The postcard mentions the “British Esperantist” monthly publication located at 13 Arundel Street, London.

This postcard was addressed to:

Miss M M Jones

Longford House

Haven Street

Isle of Wight

The remainder of the message is written, by George, in Esperanto which was a constructed international auxiliary language created in 1887 with the goal of fostering peace and international understanding through a universal second language.

Google translate gives this version of the message:

Dear Aurukino [Auro]

I hope greatly that your brother’s illness is not serious and that soon he will return completely cured. Have faith. Faith can move mountains. Therefore tell him he must have faith. Answer in English instead of Esperanto if you prefer. George.

Please feel free to comment below if you would like to add anything to this :)
