Ely Archdeaconry Choirs Festival September 1989 at King’s College Chapel Cambridge
This is newspaper clipping from my scrapbook from when I, along with my sisters, took part in a large event for choirs across Cambridgeshire that took place on Saturday 30th September 1989. We all got changed into our cassocks in Great St Mary’s Church Cambridge and had a procession across the road to King’s College Chapel, where we had a rehearsal session followed by a special service. My sisters and I were in the choir of St James Church, Queen Edith’s.
The Cambridge Town Crier newspaper did an article, which is shown here.

I remember that I was wearing these musical themed ear-rings that I’d been given as a present by my friend the Christmas before, on this day. I lost one years ago but still have one of the pair.

I was in the choir at St James’ Church for many years. After which I had a short time in the choir at St Andrew’s Church Cherry Hinton, where I also did a little bell ringing. We moved house just after I was about 13 and I went on to be in the choir at St George’s Church Chesterton for a couple of years.
There is a forthcoming article about St James’ Church and the choir due soon, so keep an eye out for that on here, in case it is of interest.
