JANE AND HER FAMILY - By Elizabeth Lang.
An improving story for little girls written by Elizabeth Lang and published by Nelson and Sons in 1895. Jane lives with her mother and father and lots of servants including her beloved nursery maid Marianne. She spends her days inventing games to play with her dolls including an ugly china doll she names Butterlip and her boy doll Willie. She makes a new friend when Malcom comes to stay and she is always very kind and helpful to everyone, especially poor children who live in garrets. This touching story was presented as the first prize for “Reliability “ at a Sunday School in 1896 and must have been cherished by the recipient.
