                    Paul Cash Paintings

After getting a job as a porter in Selwyn College, I became inspired to paint the beautiful College grounds as well as some of the characters there in my spare time, dubbing me 'THE PAINTING PORTER'. An out-pouring of work in a variety of styles and techniques led to two exhibitions. I am now focusing on portraits, the results of which can be seen at my next exhibition in July 2010. This exhibition will consist largely of portraits with a few landscapes. Mostly a selection of my friends, College characters and Cambridge faces.

I feel that Art has lost its way and has become shocking for the sake of it. Where are all the beautiful paintings? What has happened to the legacy left to us from Renoir and Monet, Turner and Velasquez? In the tradition of Artistic rebellion I am turning my back on the nonsense I find promoted so much in the Art world, which has become polluted and distorted by fame and big money. I believe that the days of 'Shock-art' are numbered and there will soon be a return to the skilled and beautiful, the positive, meaningful and expressive, and when that day comes I will be ready and waiting...
