This is a strange feature, a bricked section within a tree trunk in the Cambridge Botanical Gardens.

A wonderful find of some old clunch blocks still retained within a brick wall, just off of Hills Road, Cambridge. You can see St Paul's Church in the background. The village of Cherry Hinton, Cambridge was a major supplier of the high quality chalk (Clunch) for buildings since at least the early medieval period.
